Studio

The 3th year architectural studio is focused on dwelling design, probably the earliest and most direct architectural knowledge that anyone experiences, while it contributes as a major substance to the making of our cities. The everyday proximity to many of its approaches easies a sense of belonging with the topic, whilst the familiarity with domesticity becomes a point of departure towards more specific changing themes, which are explored monographically every year.

In short, we propose a known subject even if tinged with uncertainties where, rather than unambiguous responses, we aim to explore together the transformation of the house towards current demands and wishes, at the same time that establishing a sense of place with its urban context. Due to the crucial impact of dwelling design to the definition of our cities, we propose briefs with clear and specific urban implications, where the manifold relationships between house and city, public space and its thresholds, become fundamental issues.

Our design projects are usually located in Barcelona within non-consolidated areas, where scalar transitions between changing urban tissues or public spaces may enhance an architectural exploration of open-ended interpretations.
